Rant: gift return madness!
landongendur asked:
I can’t believe that I stood in line for over 1 hour just to exchange a computer software program. I think I’d go postal if I ever worked in such an environment. Sorry about the poor quality. I guess I won’t be using *that* camera again for video-taking

1/17/09News Circuit City to liquidate all stores. A company that had horrible customer service bites the dust. I bet the CEO was paid far more money than he was worth b/c companies are $ orientated and not job what I am trying to say is if you take care of the job it takes care of you and the customer is job #1. Sadly a lot of good workers are loosing their job in a scary time it’s not your fault keep your head up.

You should learn how do download softwear / apps. I’ve downloaded the Adobe Master Collection 3 (approx $1000) and a bunch of apps from Corel and Ulead. Saved money, but pirates have to wait.

That’s nasty! I **** that they don’t accept returned computer programs when they’re opened - even if they are defective
Did you try calling the program makers themselves? I’m sure there’s some sort of warrantee of the product or something.

AHHHHH I **** Best Buy!!!!!!!!!! They are the worst! I had to exchange a defective program, it took two trips there and about an hour on the phone to their customer ‘care’ line before I flipped out and threw it in the trash. NEVER again!

Sounds like a pattern to me.
February 8th, 2009 at 7:12 am
Yes. It beeped EVERY time! It sounded like she was texting a novel.

It follows a pattern. When the british owned RADIO SHACK built hundreds of mega electronic stores in the late eighties & nineties, they ran into financial trouble. BEFORE they announced their closing of all those stores their return & exchange policies were abruptly & drastically altered.
Once a very “easy” process, complaining about a purchased item became n ordeal, a run-around. The retailers do this to slow capital outflow &, hopefully, stop it through bankruptcy, a consumer nightmare.

I didn’t mind the wait in line but the closest Circuit City was in the city in a place that is crammed with traffic all day long. A policy that would not allow them to mail me my money and save me a return trip to their store simply b/c I used a debit card was so wasteful and inconsiderate that I felt it warranted me not using them ever again. When you snub customers in this manner you are on your way out. There is a reason they are restructuring from bankruptcy its b/c they are RETARDICKS.

Did she just not have the phone on silent or something? did it beep every time she popped a button? that would **** me off but i’d just turn around and ask her to silence her phone cause you have a migraine or something…as opposed to blowing ur lid
sure, you could talk…but then thats TALKING… texting was supposed to be a non disruptive method of communicating…

Its a policy at a lot of stores that do returns. It must be via the same method of transaction as the product was purchased… I had a monitor last christmas and ended up getting $400 Best Buy store credit cause I didn’t have my dad’s VIsa… AND I Waited in that 1 hour line.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
… the boxing day return thing is every year tho… Its cause there are just too many people to deal with on boxing day to ALSO have a return line…think about ur 1 hour line, times 2!
February 20th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
hmm… I can see that with a simple thing like a game or software, as long as the seal is still closed they shouldn’t really have an issue, but I know for big things like electronic devices, the reason why there is so much processing is because they need to ensure the product is within the return policy limits, and warrantees are covered and crap… Walmart processes too much of a variety of things like that I think… PS i worked at Future Shop Customer Service (cashier)…
February 22nd, 2009 at 7:06 am
There was a huge rumor in my city that they were going to close shop after the holidays because of their odd “we don’t take returns on boxing day” thing.
February 24th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
There seemed to be a lot of processing going on. WalMart makes returning items super easy. They give you a refund (on a WalMart card) even if you don’t have a receipt.
February 27th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Probably. They were most likely looking for references and a breathalyzer too
March 2nd, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Awe thanks. I really needed a release!
March 4th, 2009 at 6:25 am
It was pretty outrageous.. I was like: “why is this line not moving?!”
March 4th, 2009 at 9:09 am
Wow, im impressed that you waited that long and didnt have a freak out on the clerk.
Good Show
March 5th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Poor you i feel your pain… :O)
March 8th, 2009 at 6:06 am
Best Buy takes urine samples for anything returned over $500.00. That’s why it took you so long.
March 10th, 2009 at 5:46 am
… I know how you feel… Best Buy is HORRID post xmas/boxing day. Part of the reason for the time it takes to go through each person is just cause there’s soo much more processing to go through. I don’t think Best Buy/Future Shop reciepts have barcodes on them like Walmart. With WM, they just scan it and it brings up the sale info… so much easier I think. I’ve actually made a vow never to shop at Best Buy or Future Shop ever.. (cept for my iPod Touch here… :P)
March 11th, 2009 at 8:59 am
This sort of crap won’t be happening for much longer at BEST BUY. They will be soon closing their doors for good, going out of business.
(Make any exchanges and use your BEST BUY gift cards… NOW!)
March 11th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
As far as the texting all I can say is I phone and earphones watch you tube listen to music hell you are there that long bring a fold up chair and watch videos answer email tell others standing in line what is on sale at their competitors. I use to wait in line for a living as a Los Angeles truck driver I carried a chair and would do all my paperwork as I sat in line and was able to make more moves a day just by asking a good question. What can I do to make this productive and enjoy the process?
March 14th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Could be that bad for some folks.
I had to drive into town to do the return then had to go back there to collect my money this took over 4 hours time with all the driving I was not amused and they knew it. When a store gets too big for their britches and looses that ability to make decisions locally they loose me as a customer and I am not one to return anytime soon. It had been 5 years I didn’t go to a CC after that ***** slap. And my purchases since have been extremely minimal.
